The lecture will include the following topics:
Early Christian music; Byzantine-Greek music; Byzantine-Slavic music; Byzantine music of other cultures; hymnographers and composers; musical notations, forms and compositions; musical books; and paraliturgical music.
Musical examples will be provided.
Dr. Simon Marincak is a liturgical scholar specialized in the Byzantine tradition and vice-rector for external relations and cooperation at the University of Trnava.
