Workshop: Syntax and Semantics of Implicit Arguments

This workshop aims to bring together work from syntax, semantics, and their interface to reassess the status of implicit arguments among covert categories in grammar. By focusing on their distribution, grammatical activity/representation, interpretation, and formal analysis, the workshop aims to clarify what implicit arguments reveal about argument structure, the division of labor between syntax and semantics, and the architecture of grammar in general.

Der Workshop bringt Forschungsarbeiten aus den Bereichen Syntax, Semantik und ihrer Schnittstelle zusammen, um den Status impliziter Argumente unter den nicht overt realisierten Kategorien der Grammatik neu zu beleuchten. Im Zentrum stehen dabei ihre Distribution, ihre grammatische Aktivität und Repräsentation, ihre Interpretation sowie ihre formale Analyse. Ziel ist es, anhand impliziter Argumente grundlegende Fragen zur Argumentstruktur, zur Arbeitsteilung zwischen Syntax und Semantik und zur Architektur der Grammatik insgesamt neu zu diskutieren und zu präzisieren.
