The Yugoslav State Security Service and Assassinations of Yugoslav emigres in Western Europe
Christian Nielsen (University of Aarhus, Denmark)
Using a large collection of archival sources, the lecturer will analyze how the Yugoslav State Security Service conceived of and implemented a long-term strategy of infiltration and counterintelligence against Yugoslav emigres, or as the Yugoslav state termed them "the enemy fascist emigration" (neprijateljska fašistička emigracija). While the strategy primarily depended on classic espionage and counterintelligence work, it could and did culminate on numerous occasions in the physical liquidation of emigres.
