Social Pedagogy at the University of Graz
The research components of the master’s programme are practice-oriented and often relate to the many and diverse spheres of activity for social pedagogy, social work and early childhood education (depending on your preference). The central themes here are work, home life, education etc.
You can pursue your research interests still further and perfect your methodological expertise, with either a humanities focus or an interdisciplinary approach, through the Doctoral Programme of Philosophy – Faculty of Environmental and Regional Sciences and Education. You will work independently to investigate academic questions and contribute to the development of knowledge and innovation in your subject area.
Preparation for a wide range of career paths
As a graduate of this master’s programme you will have many career options in various fields of social pedagogy and early childhood education. You will be able to work in research and teaching roles in universities and non-university institutions, or in practical fields such youth work and youth welfare, school-based social work, working with young people on the streets, counselling services for families and young people, or working with people with special needs and backgrounds. If you specialise in early childhood education, you will also have career options in the leadership and management of early childhood educational and care institutions, and in counselling, early intervention or family support.
