Explore Music and Art History from an Interdisciplinary Perspective

Become an expert at the intersection of art, music and media! Interdisciplinarity lies at the heart of this Master’s programme, which explores the diverse overlaps and connections between art history and musicology.
Audiovisual Arts – what does this mean? The programme covers everything from historical phenomena such as Baroque theatre to contemporary areas of pop culture and performance art. The focus is on shared perspectives and the systematic expansion of both disciplines – for example, through the increasing interconnection and blurring of boundaries between the arts.

About the study programme

Art history and Musicology at the University of Graz

During your degree, you will explore historical and contemporary forms of artistic expression, the history and theory of audiovisual media, and concepts such as synaesthesia and intermediality. You will analyse how art and media shape our society and gain initial professional experience through practice-oriented projects. A semester abroad can be easily integrated into your degree programme via the Mobility Window.
