This study programme is interdisciplinary in a double sense. It enables studies at two universities and in two subject areas. Students may choose from the fields of Business Analytics (Business Administration/Computer Science), Societies, Technologies and Social Research (Sociology/Computer Science), Human Factors (Psychology/Computer Science) and Law and Computer Science (Law/Computer Science).
Interests that are a good basis for this study programme
This programme is aimed at those who sometimes like to think “outside the box” and want to shape digitisation. Depending on your prior studies, you should have an interest in computer science, business administration, sociology, psychology or law.
Computational Social Systems at the University of Graz
Computational social systems are created through the interaction of algorithms and user behaviour: The interactions of users with each other and with the system itself produce data from which algorithms determine results. In the Master’s programme, you study socio-technical systems in which people, society, the economy and our legal framework are analysed together with IT.
Your options in the doctoral programme
After completing the master’s programme there is the possibility of further study in the doctoral programme. The content will be evaluated during the admission process.
Preparation for a wide range of career paths
All areas of our working life are increasingly permeated by digitisation. To successfully implement this process, boundary role functions that mediate between engineers and other professionals are becoming increasingly important. In addition, jobs in interdisciplinary areas such as human-machine interaction, applied IT law including data protection, and data mining could be considered.
For admission to the master’s programme you must have already completed a first degree in a relevant subject area. You can find more informaition in the Curriculum.
The master's programme is designed to start in the winter semester. When starting in the summer semester the range of courses is limited.
