You should be interested in expanding the knowledge you acquired on your bachelor’s programme, and enjoy grappling with both theory and methodology. In addition, you should be willing to undertake additional specialist education and training after your master’s programme. You also need to have completed a subject-relevant first degree..
Admission to the master’s programme in Psychology is selective for anyone who is not a graduate of the subject-relevant bachelor’s programme at the University of Graz.
The admission process takes place only once a year, for enrolment in the winter and summer semesters of the relevant academic year.
Psychology at the University of Graz
The master’s programme in Psychology will deepen and broaden your knowledge of theories and methods of psychology focused on the natural and social sciences. As well as the practical skills that will ready you for your future career, you will also be given the necessary preparation for further postgraduate education in psychology (e.g. clinical or health psychology).
Doctoral Programme of Natural Sciences
The Doctoral Programme of Natural Sciences allows you to develop your own research interests further and to perfect your methodological skills. You will work independently to investigate academic questions and contribute to the development of knowledge and innovation in your subject area.
Preparation for a wide range of career paths
As a graduate of the master’s programme in Psychology, you will be qualified for a range of independent or senior roles in various sectors. Of particular relevance are careers and positions in areas such as theory-based design, health and social care and education, administration and business, organisational development and change management, management consulting and coaching, work design and organisation, occupational health and safety, HR development, health promotion, consulting, diagnosis, intervention and school psychology, writing expert reports, and research and teaching at (non-)university institutions. This study programme qualifies you to work as a psychologist within the meaning of the Austrian Psychologist Act.
