Interests that are a good basis for this study programme
A wide-ranging interest in the natural sciences is most important as the study programme covers various disciplines in this field. Right at the start, think about whether you would rather work in research and development or in a pharmacy so that you can specialise accordingly. You also need to have completed a subject-relevant first degree.
Admission to the master’s programme in Pharmacy is selective for anyone who is not a graduate of the subject-relevant bachelor’s programme at the University of Graz.
It is recommended to begin in the winter semester, since the range of courses is limited in the summer.
Pharmacy at the University of Graz
The master’s programme is centred around expanding your knowledge of pharmacology, pharmacognosy (biogenic drugs), pharmaceutical technology (drug manufacture and personalised medicine) and pharmaceutical chemistry (synthetic drugs and antibiotics). These areas of expertise are supplemented by the various elective courses on offer.
Doctoral Programme of Natural Sciences
The Doctoral Programme of Natural Sciences allows you to develop your own research interests further and to perfect your methodological skills. You will work independently to investigate academic questions and contribute to the development of knowledge and innovation in your subject area.
Preparation for a wide range of career paths
As a graduate of this master’s programme, you will be able to work in various sectors. These include a career as a pharmacist as well as jobs in clinical pharmacy, the pharmaceutical industry and research, teaching and research in (non-)university institutions, in testing institutions (forensic analysis, environmental protection, analysis of addictive substances, etc.), in health authorities, schools and specialist publishers and in pharmaceutical wholesale.
