New Rules

[Translate to English:]

[Translate to English:]

From 15 November 2021 onwards, the 2.5 G certificate will be valid for access to all areas of the University of Graz for students and staff

2.5 G proof
The University of Graz remains in "yellow" traffic light status until further notice. However, due to the nationwide deterioration of the infection situation, the university is tightening up its current regulations in coordination with the other universities on site:

From 15 November 2021, the 2.5 G rule (vaccinated/genetically tested/PCR tested) will apply in all areas of the university for staff and students alike. All other measures remain unchanged.

Admission to courses, examinations and library facilities is only possible with 2.5 G proof. This means that one must be vaccinated, recovered or PCR-tested. Only the current Covid-19 Measures Ordinance (as amended) is considered proof of a low epidemiological risk for the purposes of this Ordinance:

1. "1 G proof" (vaccinated)
proof of vaccination against COVID-19 with a centrally licensed vaccine.

(a) a second vaccination, not longer than 360 days (from 6 December: 270 days) ago. Please mind: Those who have already had their second jab before 6 March need a booster before 6 December!
(b) vaccination from the 22nd day if only one dose is scheduled, provided it was not administered more than 270 days previously (from 3 January 2022 a second dose is needed for validity). Please mind that a shot with Janssen loses its validity on January 3 without a booster.
(c) vaccination, provided that a positive molecular test for SARS-CoV-2 or evidence of neutralising antibodies was obtained at least 21 days prior to vaccination, not longer than 360 days ago (270 days from 6 December)
d) "booster" vaccination.

2. "2 G proof" (vaccinated/genetically active)
a proof of vaccination or a

(a) Recovery certificate for an infection with SARS-CoV-2 survived in the last 180 days or a medical confirmation for an infection with SARS-CoV2 survived in the last 180 days, which has been confirmed by molecular biology, or
(b) a certificate of segregation, if issued for a person confirmed to have been infected with SARS-CoV-2 within the 180 days preceding the scheduled testing.
Attention: Evidences of antibodies can no longer be accepted!

3. "2.5 G proof" (vaccinated/genetically/PCR-tested)
a proof of vaccination or recovery or an

(a) evidence of a negative result of a molecular biology test for SARS-CoV2 issued by an authorised body, which must have been taken no more than 72 hours previously

FFP2 mask requirement
An FFP2 mask must be worn in all hallways, public areas, and during classes and exams. It  may only be removed during active speaking or oral examinations. This exception also applies to a room occupancy of less than 50 percent. A decision in this regard is the responsibility of the teacher.

Admission pass for students
Fully vaccinated or recovered students are issued an "access passport" in credit card format with photo, name and matriculation number by the University of Graz on a voluntary basis. Students with an access pass can be admitted more quickly in a "fast lane" as part of the 2,5-G control in front of the large lecture halls.

At five stations on campus, all students will be able to have their proof of immunization or recovery, along with proof of identity, checked once without pre-registration, and will receive their personalized access pass printed out right away. The biodegradable card is valid for the entire winter semester.

Locations:

  • Porter's Lodges Main Building/University Square 3 and RESOWI: Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Porter's Lodge Wall/Merangasse 70: Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Exclusively for NAWI students at the NAWI Dean's Office/Universitätsplatz 3: Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Please note: Prerequisite for the issuance of the access pass is a valid and active UNIGRAZonline account and a valid photo in the UNIGRAZonline business card (already uploaded).

Eligible for the voluntary access pass:

  • Vaccination with validity period valid (EMA approved vaccines = Biontec/Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson&Johnson, AstraZeneca).
  • Recovery with period of validity valid

2,5 G detection at the University of Graz:

  • PCR test 72 hours
  • Vaccination with a centrally approved vaccine
  • Recovery detection

Approved vaccines
The University of Graz only accepts vaccines for 2,5-G detection that are listed according to § 1 para. 2 lines 2 to 3 of the 2nd COVID-19 Measures Ordinance as amended:

  • Biontech/Pfizer: Comirnaty (2 doses)
  • Spikevax (COVID-19 Vaccine Moderna) (2 doses)
  • COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen (1 dose)
  • Vaxzevria (COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca) (2 doses)

2,5-G checks
For lectures held in the large lecture halls 12.11, 62.01, 06.01, 15.03, 07.02, 12.01, 15.14, 15.13, 10.11, 44.11, 15.05 and 15.04, 3-G credentials will be checked by security personnel.

Study zones
The study zones are open. Workstations in the University Library facilities must still be booked through the reservation tool. Also, a valid 2,5 G proof or an access pass is necessary for admission.

Events
Events (lectures, readings, workshops, etc.) excluding teaching are only possible with 2 G regulation and FFP2 mask obligation according to the regulations of the federal government. However, they must be approved by the event service in any case. During a transitional period until 6 December 2021, proof of initial vaccination in conjunction with a negative PCR test will be considered 2 G proof.

Fair distribution: Researchers determine just greenhouse gas budgets for all EU regions

Ten years ago, on 12 December 2015, the Paris Climate Agreement was signed at the UN Climate Conference. In order to limit global warming to well below two degrees, only a certain amount of CO2 may be emitted worldwide. While the focus was originally on national emission targets, more than 200 subnational regions and almost 300 cities have now adopted their own targets. But how many emissions are they fairly entitled to? Researchers at the University of Graz have now developed transparent criteria for fair distribution at the subnational level for the first time and determined corresponding greenhouse gas budgets for all European regions. The paper was published today in the scientific journal Nature Communications.

Chemical Christmas show at the University of Graz: An explosive evening at the Schauspielh

At the beginning of December, the University of Graz transformed the theater into a laboratory: as part of “Chemical Life,” teacher training students staged a chemical Christmas show for Styrian school classes—complete with ethanol rockets, nitrogen snow, and glowing effects. Train by train: Koralm railway accelerates exchange between the Universities

Lectures at the University of Klagenfurt in the morning, seminars at the University of Graz in the afternoon: Austria's longest tunnel and a journey time of around 45 minutes make it easy. The Koralm railway increases the speed of networking between the two university locations. The collaboration builds on existing cooperation - for example in the areas of teacher training, Slavic studies and as employers, the universities are well coordinated.
