Society, history, Graz: a wide range of options for students

With around 120 courses of study on offer, the University of Graz has something for everyone. Those with a particular interest in society and democracy have a wide range of options at both bachelor's and master's level.

These include, for example, the bachelor's degree in sociology (German only). If you are passionate about history, politics, art and culture and like to keep up with current affairs, this subject is perfect for you.

The bachelor's programme in environmental systems science – geography (German only) could be of interest to anyone who is fascinated by processes and changes in their own living space, for example in the city or region.

Master

The Arqus Joint Master’s Programme European Studies is suitable for anyone interested in the role of Europe in globalisation. It includes a compulsory semester abroad at one of eight partner universities in the EU. The application deadline is 14 March.

The application deadline for the Joint Master's Programme in Jewish Studies is 31 May 2025. The course, which is unique in Austria, is offered in cooperation with the Heidelberg University for Jewish Studies, where the basic knowledge is acquired. Among other things, students deal with the history, literature and culture of Judaism as well as with social interactions.

Talent Talks bridge the gap in career guidance

The Styrian Chamber of Commerce (WKO Steiermark), the Styrian Chamber of Labour (AK Steiermark) and the AMS are joining forces when it comes to training young people and, through the “Talent Talks”, are creating a seamless pathway to career guidance. This takes preparation and follow-up support – just in time for the start of the term and the scheme’s tenth anniversary – to a whole new level. A new survey conducted by the Talent Centre among 2,687 former participants to mark the anniversary shows just how important this development is. Of the young people who received follow-up support from the Talent Report, 74.6 per cent stated that they had a good understanding of their own strengths and talents following the Talent Check. Without follow-up support, the figure was 66.5 per cent – a significant difference of 8.1 percentage points.
