The teacher training programme is organised and provided jointly by eight institutions working on a collaborative basis in the South-East Development Network (EVSO). In this study programme you will benefit from the combined strengths of all these institutions, and a broad range of study options. Your first school experience takes place as early as the second semester!

You should of course be interested in all aspects of the teaching profession. You should also enjoy sharing knowledge, actively shaping social relationships, and working in teams.
Entry to the bachelor´s programme in General Secondary Level Teacher Training is selective and you will need to complete the admission process. For some subject areas there are additional specific prerequisites, aptitude assessments and ranking processes.
The admission process takes place only once a year, for enrolment in the winter and summer semesters of the relevant academic year.
General Secondary Level Teacher Training at the University of Graz
In this study programme you will be taught everything you need to know for your future career in teaching. You will acquire a thorough grounding in methodology, subject knowledge and subject-specific teaching skills, to ensure you are ideally prepared for the many different day-to-day challenges of the profession.
Master’s programme in General Secondary Level Teacher Training
The master’s programme in General Secondary Level Teacher Training builds directly on the bachelor’s programme, broadening and developing the knowledge and skills already acquired. At the University of Graz you also have the option of interfaculty master’s programmes and joint programmes, allowing further scope for individualised and specialised learning.
Preparation for a wide range of career paths
As a graduate of the bachelor’s programme in General Secondary Level Teacher Training you are eligible for further studies in the master’s programme. After completing the bachelor’s programme you will already be qualified to teach at a lower or upper secondary school, although without a master’s degree you will not be able to secure a permanent post. You will also be able to work in general and vocational school-based continuing education or in non-school educational institutions.
