Der Pflanzen-Raritätenmarkt am 22. und 23. April wächst: grüne Spezialitäten im Botanischen Garten und im Stadtpark

Allen Hobby-GärtnerInnen blüht etwas am kommenden Wochenende, den 22. und 23. April 2017. Der Pflanzen-Raritätenmarkt ist gewachsen – die beliebte Veranstaltung findet erstmalig auf zwei Standorten statt: Im Stadtpark (Verkehrsgarten) sind die Gemüsepflanzen zu bestaunen und zu kaufen, der Botanische Garten der Uni Graz hat vor allem seltene Zierpflanzen im Angebot. Erwartet werden wiederum bis zu 3000 BesucherInnen, die dank der Aufteilung auf zwei Orte heuer mehr Platz zum Bewundern, Riechen und auch Verkosten haben.

Obst und Gemüse im Stadtpark
Im Bereich des Verkehrsgartens im Stadtpark dreht sich alles um Nutzpflanzen: Obstgehölze, Weinreben, Gartenstauden, Kräuter, Tomaten und andere Gemüseraritäten, Saatgut, Pilzkulturen, hausgemachte Produkte (Marmeladen, Kräuteröle, Seifen), Gemüse- und Kräuter-Jungpflanzen von „Arche Noah“ und vieles mehr. Obst du Gemüse finden sich auch bei der Labestation: „Flying Kitchen“ offeriert asiatische und vegane Speisen.

Zierpflanzen im Botanischen Garten
Der Botanische Garten erwartet die BesucherInnen mit Zierpflanzen-Raritäten: Palmen, Orchideen, Pfingstrosen, Kakteen und anderen Sukkulenten, Insektivoren, Rosen, Lilien, Steingartenpflanzen sowie Gartendekor. Dazu gibt es wissenswerte Pflanzentipps der fachkundigen GärtnerInnen.
Für die kulinarische Stärkung sorgt der Verein „Freunde des Botanischen Gartens“, der auf der Terrasse des Gewächshauses köstliche Schmankerl kredenzt.

Der Eintritt ist frei, keine Anmeldung erforderlich.

Die VeranstalterInnen bitten, aufgrund der überaus begrenzten Parkmöglichkeiten mit den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln anzureisen sowie aufgrund des Hundeverbots im Botanischen Garten auf die Mitnahme der Vierbeiner zu verzichten.

“HeinrichBiCool”: University of Graz demonstrates the effects of green facades and roofs

The University of Graz has launched a pioneering project at the University Centre for Theology. Its name, “HeinrichBiCool”, says it all: a comprehensive system of green facades and roof will cool the building at Heinrichstraße 80 during the summer. The accompanying monitoring programme will provide detailed data on the impact of the measures on indoor climate, energy consumption and biodiversity. The findings will lay a scientifically sound foundation for further projects aimed at making cities sustainable, climate-resilient and liveable. The partners in this project, funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), are AEE INTEC – Institute for Sustainable Technologies, Technisches Büro Siegfried Stark, the landscape architecture and urban planning firm “studio boden”, and Ökoteam Graz.
