Wie geht klimafreundliches Fliegen? Sind E-Fuels die Zukunft oder ein Ablenkungsmanöver? Was steckt hinter der Kooperation mit dem südamerikanischen Wirtschaftsverbund MERCOSUR?

Nur drei Fragen, die Lydia Lienhart auf ihrem YouTube-Kanal "@lydiaexplains" fundiert, verständlich und pointiert beantwortet.

Ausgehend von ihrer Profession beschäftigt sie sich in ihren Erklär-Clips mit aktuellen Themen rund um Nachhaltigkeit, Wirtschaft und Klimawandel.

„Im Zuge der filmischen Vorbereitung und Umsetzung bekomme ich einen kritischen Blick auf meine Forschung. Und es zwingt mich, eine gesellschaftsrelevante Perspektive einzunehmen.“ Auch für Fördergeber:innen wird die Wissenschaftskommunikation immer wichtiger, bestätigt Lienhart. CO₂-Emissionen beim Fliegen ist jenes Thema, dem sich die Nachwuchsforscherin vor allem in ihrer Arbeit an der Uni Graz widmet – unter anderem im TRANSFLIGHT-Projekt. Darin wird zum Beispiel untersucht, welche Rolle Digitalisierung und virtuelle Mobilität als Alternative zum physischen Reisen spielen und welche Faktoren das Flugreiseverhalten im privaten, unternehmerischen und wissenschaftlichen Bereich beeinflussen.

This makes it all the more important to gain a better understanding of the processes taking place on our nearest star. A research team from the University of Graz and the High Altitude Observatory in Boulder (USA) has succeeded in doing just that. The astrophysicists have developed an AI-supported method that makes even the smallest structures on the Sun visible. The scientists are convinced that this will bring about a lasting change in solar observation and that the new method can be used for the planned European Solar Telescope.
