Macht der Online-Giganten: Kartellrechtsexpertin Viktoria Robertson weiß, wie Gesetze wettbewerbswidriges Verhalten im Zaum halten

Viktoria Robertson ist Professorin für Internationales Kartellrecht an der Uni Graz. Ihre Expertise ist unter anderem von der EU-Kommission nachgefragt.

Digitale Plattformen bestimmen unseren Alltag: beim Austausch von Nachrichten, beim Einkaufen, beim Hören von Musik und vielem mehr. Doch was ist mit der Fülle an gesammelten Daten sowie mit dem Umstand, dass die Dienste in den Händen weniger Konzerne liegen? Dieser Frage geht Viktoria Robertson unter anderem im Profilbreich „Smart Regulation“ nach.

Die Professorin für Internationales Kartellrecht beschäftigt sich mit juristischen Spielregeln, die sicherstellen sollen, dass Online-Riesen ihren Einfluss nicht ausnutzen und Verbraucher:innen nicht schaden. „Es besteht auch die Gefahr, dass Plattformen den Diskurs bestimmen und das ist im Endeffekt eine Bedrohung für unsere westliche liberale Demokratie“, warnt Robertson vor Risiken. Um die Macht einzuschränken, hat die Europäische Union den Digital Markets Act sowie den Digital Services Act verabschiedet. Bei diesem Rechtspaket hat die Europäische Kommission auch die Expertise von Viktoria Robertson eingeholt.

Styrian Economic Chamber awards scholarships to three students at the University of Graz

In their Master's theses, Daniela Pinter, Elena Pusca and Leonie Sayer are focussing on topics that are of particular importance to the economy. On 1 July 2025, the students from the University of Graz each received a research grant of 2,100 euros from the Styrian Economic Chamber. In addition, 500 euros each will go to the institutes where the theses are supervised.
