Geisteswissenschaftliche Fakultät zeichnet NachwuchswissenschafterInnen aus

Am 27. Oktober erhielten gleich zwei AbsolventInnen des Joint Master’s Degree in English and American Studies und ihr Betreuer die Auszeichnung für qualitätsgesicherte Veröffentlichungen auf Grundlage der Masterarbeit: Silke Jandl, BA MA, und Maximilian Feldner, BA MA, sowie Ao.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Martin Löschnigg nahmen die Preise, die mit jeweils 500 Euro für Forschungszwecke dotiert sind, von GEWI-Dekan Lukas Meyer entgegen.

Beide PreisträgerInnen wagten sich an große Namen der englischen Literaturwissenschaft und konnten, wie Prof. Löschnigg betonte, interessante, neue Aspekte ausarbeiten: Silke Jandl befasste sich in ihrer MA-Arbeit mit Jane Austen zum Thema "The Lizzie Bennet Diaries: An Analysis of the online modernized adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice" und Maximilian Feldner mit James Joyce zum Thema “Intermedial Joyce: Filmic Adaptations of Ulysses, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and ‘The Dead’”. Die Erkenntnisse aus beiden Arbeiten erscheinen in der Jubiläumsausgabe der renommierten „Arbeiten aus Anglistik und Amerikanistik“, Band 40, Heft 1-2.

Jandl arbeitet im Centre for Intermediality Study, unterrichtet am Institut für Amerikanisitik und beschäftigt sich in ihrer Dissertation weiterhin mit den Wechselbeziehungen zwischen Büchern und YouTube Videos. Ihr Kollege Feldner beschäftigt sich in seiner Doktorarbeit mit englischsprachigen Autoren der Westafrikanischen Diaspora im 21. Jahrhundert - er hat einen Lehrauftrag an der Uni Graz.

Die GEWI-Fakultät verlieh diese Auszeichnung, die im Rahmen des Schwerpunkts der Masterförderung vergeben wird, nun bereits zum sechsten Mal.

The Austrian Science Fund FWF has selected the Doctoral Programme in Theoretical Particle Physics at the University of Graz for funding from the Doc.funds. Six young scientists will be funded for 3.5 years. They will gain fundamentally new insights into the origins of the world.

Walking better with a prosthesis, successfully getting rid of excess weight, training more effectively, more fairness for trans people in sport: these were the topics addressed by the students at the University of Graz who were awarded the sports science prizes for their Master's theses on 3 December 2025.
