500 Plätze fasst der Hörsaal 07.01. der Vorklinik - weit mehr Studierende in spe waren zur Begrüßung am Tag der offenen Tür gekommen.

Einen musikalischen Gruß gab es von einem Quartett der Kunstuniversität.

Zahlreiche Studierende schnuppern am Tag der offenen Tür ins Studium

Musiktheather, Medizin, Maschinenbau oder Molekularbiologie? Der Bildungsstandort Graz macht es Studieninteressierten nicht ganz leicht - sie können aus einer Vielzahl von Möglichkeiten an den vier Universitäten wählen. Traditionell bietet der jährliche Tag der offenen Tür Gelegenheit, sich über das Angebot zu informieren, Institute kennen zu lernen, Wissenschaft auszuprobieren und alle Fragen rund um die Anfangsphase an einer Universität zu stellen.

Der Andrang ist heuer besonders groß: Der rund 500 Plätze fassende Hörsaal 07.01. in der Vorklinik platze bei der Begrüßung am 20. April 2017 um 9 Uhr aus allen Nähten, als Dr. Gudrun Salmhofer, Lehr- und Studienservices der Uni Graz, Dr. Harald Lothaller, Studiendirektor der Kunstuniversität, und Ao.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Doris Lang-Loidolt, Vizerektorin für Studium und Lehre der Medizinischen Universität, die TeilnehmerInnen begrüßten. Salmhofer, Lang-Loidolt und Lothaller strichen als VertreterInnen ihrer Hochschulen die jeweiligen Besonderheiten hervor und ermutigten die Studierenden in spe, sich ausführlich zu informieren und wünschten gleichzeitig viel Erfolg für die gesamte Ausbildungszeit.

Bis16 Uhr hatten Interessierten heute Zeit, sich über verschiedene Infotouren, in Impulsreferaten und an Infoständen alle wichtigen Infos zum Studium ihrer Wahl zu holen. Mittels kostenlosen Shuttle-Bussen konnten sich die TeilnehmerInnen einfach und schnell zwischen den Standorten bewegen. Insgesamt zählten die VeranstalterInnen rund 2.000 TeilnehmerInnen.

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The use of artificial intelligence has had to be made transparent since 2 August 2026. The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.

The Healing Sea: Researchers discover new approaches to treating chronic inflammation in sponges

Chronic inflammation plays a key role in many diseases, ranging from metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases to tissue damage following injuries or infections. “Normally, the body is able to resolve inflammation on its own. If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
