Vielfalt der Sprachen: Uni Graz lädt zur Weltkonferenz

Deutsch ist nicht gleich Deutsch, Englisch nicht gleich Englisch und Spanisch nicht gleich Spanisch usw. Ein und dieselbe Sprache zeigt sich in vielen Ausprägungen, von nationalen Varietäten, bis hin zu Varianten verschiedener sozialen Gruppen, wie zum Beispiel der Jugendsprache.

Die mannigfaltigen Formen einer Sprache stehen im Mittelpunkt der „World Conference on pluricentric languages and their non-dominant varieties“ vom 8. bis 11. Juli 2015 an der Uni Graz. Über 63 Vorträge zu 22 verschiedenen Sprachen beschäftigen sich unter anderem mit der Verbreitung von Ausprägungen in den jüngeren Generationen und der Identität von Sprachgemeinschaften. Weitere Themen sind zum Beispiel auch die Vermischung von Spanisch und Englisch zum sogenannten Spanglish, der Einfluss von Facebook-Kommunikation auf das Portugiesische sowie die Problematik und Chancen der vielen Varianten von Ungarisch.

Ein Ziel der Konferenz ist, ausführliche Berichte über die Situation der Sprachen und ihrer nicht-dominanten Varietäten auf der ganzen Welt zu erhalten, wobei der Fokus auf den weniger bekannten und erforschten Sprachen liegt. Veranstaltet wird die Konferenz von der „International Working Group on Non-dominant Varieties of pluricentric Languages“ unter der Leitung von Ass.-Prof. Dr. Rudolf Muhr.
