Visuelle Kulturen wurden im Rahmen der Tagung diskutiert und während des Stadtrundgangs entdeckt.

Tagung und Stadtspazierung auf der Suche nach Kunst im öffentlichen Raum

Gemeinsam mit dem Doktoratsprogramm "Visuelle Kulturen" veranstalteten die Institute für Amerikanistik, für Volkskunde und Kulturanthropologie sowie für Südosteuropäische Geschichte an der Karl-Franzens-Universität kürzlich ein Symposium zum Thema "Visual Culture/s: From the Local to the Global".

Diskutiert wurden aktuelle Entwicklungen in den visuellen Kulturen, deren Institutionalisierung an nordamerikanischen und mittel-und südosteuropäischen Universitäten sowie bestehende Forschungsinteressen innerhalb der geisteswissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Uni Graz. Einen Höhepunkt des Symposiums bildete der Stadtrundgang auf der Suche nach visueller Kultur im öffentlichen Raum, bei dem Graphikdesigner Simon Lemmerer auf die Unterschiede zwischen Graffiti, Public Art und diverse visuelle Auftragsarbeiten im Grazer Stadtbild einging.
