10 Jahre Umwelt-, Regional- und Bildungswissenschaftliche (URBI) Fakultät: gesellschaftliche Themen im Fokus

Vor zehn Jahren wurde die Umwelt-, Regional- und Bildungswissenschaftliche (URBI) Fakultät aus der Taufe gehoben. Das Ziel der Gründung war es, besondere Bereiche für die Zukunft des Standortes Steiermark sowie wesentliche gesellschaftliche Themen in Form einer Fakultät zu bündeln sowie sichtbar zu machen. Am 1. Oktober 2017 wurden wissenschaftliche Disziplinen wie Bildungs- und Erziehungswissenschaften, Sportwissenschaft, Systemwissenschaften, Geographie, Umwelt und Klima zusammengeführt.
Ein paar Beispiele geben Einblicke in aktuelle Forschungen der URBI-Fakultät.

Fakultätstag am 23. Juni
Auch der diesjährige Fakultätstag am 23. Juni 2017 steht ganz im Fokus des Jubiläums. Den Festvortrag unter dem Titel „Fakultäre Identitäten in einer posthumboldtschen Universität“ hält der Präsident des Österreichischen Wissenschaftsrates, Prof. Dr. Dr.h.c. Antonio Loprieno, der bis 2015 Rektor der Universität Basel und Präsident der Rektorenkonferenz der Schweizer Universitäten war.

Around the world in eight stops: the Long Night of Research at the University of Graz

On 24 April from 5 pm, you can take a short trip around the globe at the University of Graz, discovering pecularities of foreign countries or new local features in the entrance hall of the University Library. The itinerary takes you through introduced animal species, political attitudes and the omnipotence of algorithms. There will also be a programme in the historic reading hall, as well as at the UniGraz@Museum and the University Archive.
