In order to protect our climate, the production and consumption of energy play an important role. Against this background, the EU created a framework law for a sustainable electricity market.
The University of Graz is contributing primarily the psychological and legal perspective to a large European research project led by the Centre for Social Innovation (Vienna). Central questions of the project, anchored in the profile area Smart Regulation, are: What are the basic attitudes of energy users towards a change to more sustainable energy consumption? What additional financial and time contribution are they willing to make? What practical problems do they face? In particular, what do they enjoy about actively participating in an energy community in their neighbourhood?
Under the direction of Katja Corcoran, Institute of Psychology, the following scientists from the University of Graz are involved in the project: Ursula Athenstaedt and Claudia Vogrincic-Haselbacher (Institute of Psychology), Maria Bertel (Institute of Public Law and Political Science) as well as Brigitta Lurger and Celin Gutschi (Institute of Civil Law, Foreign and International Private Law).
