Gerd Oberleitner, Inhaber des UNESCO-Lehrstuhls für Menschenrechte, erzählt im Webradio, wie das Thema in Lehre und Forschung integriert wird

Das Webradio der Grazer Universitäten versorgt Studierende, MitarbeiterInnen, Lehrende, Forschende, Alumni sowie alle Interessierten wöchentlich mit vier Informationsbeiträgen. Ab dieser Woche geht startet das Programm wieder - mit folgenden Beiträgen:

1) Forschung: "The Turn of the Screw." In Benjamin Brittens Grusel-Oper geht es um die Frage nach Wirklichkeit und Illusion. Die Studierenden der KUG, die das Werk aktuell präsentieren, müssen sich im Zuge dessen auch mit sich selbst auseinandersetzen, erklärt Regisseur Roman Hovenbitzer.

2) Bildung: "Lehrstuhl für Menschenrechte." An der Universität Graz gibt es seit diesem Semester einen UNESCO-Lehrstuhl für Menschenrechte. Gerd Oberleitner, Inhaber des neuen Lehrstuhles, erzählt, warum Menschenrechtsbildung wichtig ist, wie das Thema in Lehre und Forschung integriert wird und was es ihm persönlich bedeutet.

3) Campusleben: "Wunden richtig behandeln." Wieder die Schulbank drücken heißt es von 25. bis 29. Juli 2016 für die Teilnehmenden der „International Summerschool for Wound Management“ an der Med Uni Graz. Alles Wissenswerte rund ums Thema Wundbehandlung wird dort in praxisnahem Unterricht am Krankbett vermittelt. Anmeldungen sind noch möglich unter: summer.school.graz(at)gmail.com.

4) Aktuell gefragt: "Schadstrofffreies Auto der Zukunft". Wasserstoff ist das am häufigsten in der Natur vorkommende Element und lässt sich weitgehend schadstofffrei nutzen. Daher ist er besonders für die Stromerzeugung in Brennstoffzellen oder als Kraftantrieb in Verbrennungskraftmotoren interessant. An der TU Graz gibt es mit dem HyCar2 bereits ein gänzlich emissionsfreies Vehikel.

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The use of artificial intelligence has had to be made transparent since 2 August 2026. The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.

The Healing Sea: Researchers discover new approaches to treating chronic inflammation in sponges

Chronic inflammation plays a key role in many diseases, ranging from metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases to tissue damage following injuries or infections. “Normally, the body is able to resolve inflammation on its own. If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
