Das Observatorium Lustbühel lädt beim Österreichischen Astronomietag zu Führungen und Himmelsbeobachtung

Himmelwärts sind am Freitag, den 29. September 2017 alle Augen gerichtet. Es ist der Österreichische Astronomietag, an dem sich auch die Uni Graz mit dem Observatorium Lustbühel bei Graz beteiligt. Von 19 bis 23 Uhr finden bei freiem Eintritt Führungen statt und es sind – sofern der Wettergott mitspielt – Beobachtungen der Sternenwelt möglich.

Um mehr über die Aufgaben des Observatoriums und sein computergesteuertes 50cm-Teleskop zu erfahren, stehen die WissenschafterInnen bei der öffentlichen Veranstaltung erklärend zur Seite. Sie werden unter anderem erklären, dass mit dem Observatorium Lustbühel der Universität Graz eine moderne Einrichtung zur Verfügung steht, die sich sowohl der astrophysikalischen Forschung als auch der Ausbildung von Studierenden widmet. Und es gibt auch besondere Sichtungen: "Insbesondere der zunehmende Mond und der Gasplanet Saturn mit seinem Ringsystem sind lohnende Ziele“, hofft Astrophysiker Dr. Thorsten Ratzka auf einem wolkenarmen Nachthimmel.

Around the world in eight stops: the Long Night of Research at the University of Graz

On 24 April from 5 pm, you can take a short trip around the globe at the University of Graz, discovering pecularities of foreign countries or new local features in the entrance hall of the University Library. The itinerary takes you through introduced animal species, political attitudes and the omnipotence of algorithms. There will also be a programme in the historic reading hall, as well as at the UniGraz@Museum and the University Archive.
