Das ÖH-Servicecenter macht Platz für das neue Zentrum für Wissens- und Innovationstransfer

In den vergangenen Tagen wurde an der Uni Graz eifrig gesiedelt: Das ÖH-Servicecenter öffnet seine Pforten an neuer Stelle in der Harrachgasse 23. Seit heute, 23. Juli 2018, sind die Hochschüler_innenschaft und das Servicecenter nun im Gebäudekomplex der Vorklinik zu finden. Wo in den letzten Jahren die Bank Austria mit einer Filiale vertreten war, erscheinen der Geschäftsraum, die Druckerei und der SB-Kopierbereich der ÖH jetzt in neuem Glanz.
Die Services bleiben in gewohnter Qualität erhalten: Neben der Möglichkeit zu kopieren gibt es dort auch Skripten, Fachbücher, Büroartikel und Medizinprodukte zu studierendenfreundlichen Preisen zu erstehen. Neu ist, dass die Druckerei nun unter der Marke GUD (Grazer Uni-Druckerei) mit modernen Maschinen den Druck von Abschlussarbeiten, Plakaten, Flyern, Foldern, Prospekten, Broschüren, Hardcover, Kalender, Klammerheftungen, Spiralisierungen und Expressservices anbietet.

Neues Zentrum für Wissens- und Innovationstransfer im Entstehen
Warum das ÖH-Servicecenter übersiedelt ist? Es macht Platz für das neue Zentrum für Wissens- und Innovationstransfer (ZWI). Ab November 2018 beginnen dafür die Vorarbeiten am Standort Schubertstraße. Das Zentrum wird zur Anlaufstelle für Studierende, ForscherInnen, Gründungsinteressierte und Unternehmen. Das ermöglicht eine rasche Vernetzung der Jung-UnternehmerInnen mit steirischen Betrieben, der nationalen und internationalen Startup-Community und der akademischen Welt.

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The use of artificial intelligence has had to be made transparent since 2 August 2026. The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.

Chronic inflammation plays a key role in many diseases, ranging from metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases to tissue damage following injuries or infections. “Normally, the body is able to resolve inflammation on its own. If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
