Das Studierenden-Team der Uni Graz gewann beim European Human Rights Moot Court Competition einen Preis für den besten Schriftsatz

Von 15. bis 18. Februar2016 fand am Europäischen Gerichtshof für Menschenrechte in Straßburg zum vierten Mal die Finalrunde der European Human Rights Moot Court Competition statt, die von ELSA International in Kooperation mit dem Europarat organisiert wird. Das Team der Universität Graz, bestehend aus Daniela Bamer, Thomas Neuhold, Bernhard Wetschko und Lily Zechner und betreut durch Ao.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Gerd Oberleitner und Mag. Pia Niederdorfer vom Institut für Völkerrecht, konnte sich durch eine ausgezeichnete schriftliche Leistung für dieses Finale der besten 16 Teams Europas qualifizieren.


Das arbeitsintensive Wintersemester hat sich für das diesjährige Team in mehrfacher Hinsicht bezahlt gemacht: Einerseits bekam man die Gelegenheit in den Räumlichkeiten des Europäischer Gerichtshofs für Menschenrechte vor internationalen ExpertInnen aufzutreten und so einmalige Erfahrungen zu sammeln. Andererseits konnte heuer auch erstmals ein Preis nach Österreich geholt werden: in der Kategorie „Best Written Submission Respondent“ setzte sich das Grazer Team sich gegen die University of Cambridge durch und erreichte den ersten Platz.
