Kunstgeschichte-Studierende verlegen Tagung in Galerie

Es ist ein außergewöhnlicher Rollentausch an der Uni Graz: Studierende tragen vor, ProfessorInnen hören zu. Und anstelle der Universität dient eine Kunstgalerie als Hörsaal. Für eine Tagung zu Moderne und Gegenwartskunst am 30. Und 31. Oktober 2015 dreht das Institut für Kunstgeschichte den Spieß um.


Junge ForscherInnen in den Geisteswissenschaften fördern – das war der Ausgangspunkt für Kunsthistorikerin Univ.-Prof. Dr. Sabine Flach, das gängige Schema einer akademischen Veranstaltung zu überdenken. Für das Konzept der ersten NachwuchsforscherInnen-Tagung hat die Professorin für Moderne und Gegenwartskunst an der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz einen neuen Weg beschritten. „Masterstudierende und DoktorandInnen tragen bei der englischsprachigen Konferenz vor, die Lehrenden wechseln die Seite und hören zu”, schildert Flach. Neben dem fachlichen Know-how erwerben die Studierenden auch weitere Kompetenzen, betont die Forscherin: „Sie erhalten damit die Chance, die Bühne der Wissenschaft zu betreten.“
Gleichzeitig geht die Universität mit der Veranstaltung auch nach außen, da die Konferenz Tagung nicht am Campus, sondern in der Grazer Galerie Zimmermann–Kratochwill stattfindet.


Unter dem Titel „You are in a place of indifference“ werden sich die vortragenden Studierenden mit dem Generalthema Raumkunst auseinandersetzen. „Raumkunst hat Konjunktur“, bestätigt Sabine Flach. „Wie kaum eine andere Kunstgattung haben die Installation und raumbezogene Performances in den vergangenen 50 Jahren das Feld der Künste und der Theorie dominiert.“

Breitentauglich erfolgt der Auftakt zur Tagung am 29. Oktober 2015 um 18.30 Uhr: Im Rahmen des „Artist’s Talk“ diskutiert Sabine Flach mit der amerikanischen Künstlerin Jeanne Silverthorne in der Galerie Zimmermann–Kratochwill, Opernring 7, 8010 Graz.
