Bis 4 Uhr früh nutzten die Studierenden das einzigartige Angebot der Schreibnacht, um ihre Arbeiten voranzubringen.

120 Studierende schrieben sich durch die Lange Nacht der aufgeschobenen Seminararbeiten

Schlaflos in der Aula: Mehr als 120 Studierende schlugen sich am 9. Juni 2017 an der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz bei der Langen Nacht der aufgeschobenen Seminararbeiten dieselbige um die Ohren. Egal ob Seminar-, Master- oder Doktorarbeit: anstehende wissenschaftliche Texte mit professioneller Unterstützung und in einem motivierenden Umfeld voranbringen oder auch fertigstellen, das ist die Intention der österreichweit einzigartigen Initiative. Studien-Vizerektor Martin Polaschek gab den Startschuss zur mittlerweile fünften Schreibnacht und wünschte viel Erfolg: „Die Atmosphäre der Aula ist etwas ganz Besonderes, die auch zum Schreiben anregen soll.“

Die große Nachfrage begründet Doris Pany-Habsa, Leiterin des Schreibzentrums an der Uni Graz, mit dem zielgerichteten Angebot: „Neben individueller Schreibberatung standen Arbeitsblätter des Schreibzentrums zur Verfügung, zudem unterstützten MitarbeiterInnen der Universitätsbibliothek bei der Recherche und Literaturverwaltung.“ Und wenn das Schreiben einmal stockte? „Dann konnte man mit anderen in Austausch treten, sich am Buffet stärken oder eine Beratung in Anspruch nehmen“, so Pany-Habsa.

“HeinrichBiCool”: University of Graz demonstrates the effects of green facades and roofs

The University of Graz has launched a pioneering project at the University Centre for Theology. Its name, “HeinrichBiCool”, says it all: a comprehensive system of green facades and roof will cool the building at Heinrichstraße 80 during the summer. At the same time, this will create a new habitat for plants and animals, helping to increase biodiversity. The accompanying monitoring programme will provide detailed data on the impact of the measures on indoor climate, energy consumption and biodiversity. The findings will lay a scientifically sound foundation for further projects aimed at making cities sustainable, climate-resilient and liveable. The partners in this project, funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), are AEE INTEC – Institute for Sustainable Technologies, Technisches Büro Siegfried Stark, the landscape architecture and urban planning firm “studio boden”, and Ökoteam Graz.
