Ex-Geheimdienstoffizier der ČSSR beleuchtet russische Propaganda unter Putin

Beiträge zu den Themen Geheimdienste, Propaganda und Sicherheit füllen zweimal jährlich eine Ausgabe des Journal for Intelligence, Propaganda and Security Studies (JIPSS). Die Zeitschrift wird vom Austrian Center for Intelligence, Propaganda and Security Studies (ACIPSS), das an das Institut für Geschichte der Uni Graz angelehnt ist, herausgegeben.

Für das aktuelle Heft, das kürzlich erschienen ist, konnte unter anderem der berühmte Überläufer des Prager Frühlings, Ladislav Bittman alias Lawrence Martin, als Autor gewonnen werden. In seinem Beitrag mit dem Titel „Is the Cold War Back?“ beleuchtet er die russische Propaganda und die Aktivitäten unter Putin.

Bittman war ein hoher Geheimdienstoffizier der Tschechoslowakischen Sozialistischen Republik. 1968, nach dem sowjetischen Einmarsch, flüchtete er in die US-Botschaft in Bonn. Seit den 1970er-Jahren lebt er in Rockport/Massachusetts. Fast 30 Jahre lang arbeitete Lawrence Martin-Bitman als Universitätslehrer an der Boston University.
