Neue Webradio-Beiträge zu den Themen Kunst und Technik, Entgrenzung klassischer Musik und Lymphdrüsenkrebs

Das Webradio der Grazer Universitäten versorgt Studierende, MitarbeiterInnen, Lehrende, Forschende, Alumni sowie alle Interessierten wöchentlich mit vier Informationsbeiträgen. Spannende Forschungsgeschichten, interessante Veranstaltungstipps, aktuelle Neuigkeiten und vieles mehr in nur dreieinhalb Minuten pro Beitrag bietet das kostenlose Programm. Alle Beiträge bleiben online gespeichert, eignen sich dadurch auch zum Nachhören und stehen ebenfalls zum Download bereit. Zwei mal täglich sind sie außerdem auf Radio Soundportal.

Diese Woche im Programm:

1) Forschung: "Kampfansage". ForscherInnen der Med Uni Graz arbeiten derzeit an einem neuen Ansatz für eine Behandlung von Lymphdrüsenkrebs. Tumorzellen sollen in den programmierten Zelltod, in die so genannte Apoptose, getrieben werden. Wie das funktionieren soll, erklärt Alexander Deutsch von der klinischen Abteilung für Hämatologie.

2) Bildung: "Bunter Tag zur Nachhaltigkeit". Am 31. Mai findet an der Uni Graz der Nachhaltigkeitstag statt. Auf dem Programm stehen Forschungspräsentationen mit Diskussionen, eine Filmvorstellung sowie ein kostenloser Radlcheck. Auch do-it-yourself- Workshops rund um Kosmetika oder „Seedbombs“ werden angeboten. Details zum Programm gibt es unter nachhaltigkeitstag.uni-graz.at

3) Campusleben: "Kein Widerspruch". Kunst und Technik - geht das zusammen? Natürlich! Die TU Graz zeigt beispielhaft vor, dass beide Bereiche einander keineswegs ausschließen, sondern viel mehr bereichen. Das Webradio ist auf einen Spaziergang über den TU-Campus gegangen und hat sich die dortigen Kunstwerke genauer angesehen.

4) Aktuell Gefragt: "Grenzerfahrungen". Ist es in der heutigen Zeit notwendig, die Grenzen der klassischen Musik in andere Genres und zum Beispiel Konzerträume zu öffnen? Darüber wird am 6. Juni ab 16 Uhr im Palais Meran an der Kunstuni Graz diskutiert. Stargast ist der deutsche Musiker und Produzent Sven Helbig, seines Zeichens verantwortlich für den Sound von Rammstein oder den Pet Shop Boys.

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The use of artificial intelligence has had to be made transparent since 2 August 2026. The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.

The Healing Sea: Researchers discover new approaches to treating chronic inflammation in sponges

Chronic inflammation plays a key role in many diseases, ranging from metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases to tissue damage following injuries or infections. “Normally, the body is able to resolve inflammation on its own. If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
