Rainer Niemann zum neuen Senatsvorsitzenden gewählt

Der Senat der Uni Graz beginnt am 1. Oktober 2013 auf Basis der Wahl vom 24. April 2013 eine neue, dreijährige Funktionsperiode. In der konstituierenden Sitzung am 2. Juli 2013 wurde Univ.-Prof. Dipl.-Kfm. Dr. Rainer Niemann zum neuen Vorsitzenden von 1. Oktober 2013 bis 30. September 2016 gewählt. Ao.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Edith Gößnitzer übernimmt die Stellvertretung.

Die langjährige Vorsitzende Monika Hinteregger scheidet nach zehnjähriger Leitungstätigkeit aus dem Senat aus. Als Dank für das Engagement erhielt die Rechtswissenschafterin am 26. Juni 2013 den goldenen Ehrenring der Karl-Franzens-Universität. >> Mehr Info

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Rainer Niemann, Jahrgang 1970, ist Leiter des Instituts für Unternehmensrechnung und Steuerlehre an der SOWI-Fakultät. Von 1993 bis 1997 studierte er Betriebswirtschaftslehre mit dem Schwerpunkt Betriebliche Steuerlehre an der Universität Bielefeld. Nach seinem Studienabschluss wechselte er an die Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen, wo er 2000 promovierte. Anfang 2004 schloss er sein Habilitationsverfahren ebenfalls an der Universität Tübingen erfolgreich ab.
Seit 2004 ist Niemann Universitätsprofessor an der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz, seit 2006 auch stellvertretender Leiter des Center for Accounting Research. Im Senat war der Wissenschafter Kuriensprecher der UniversitätsprofessorInnen.
Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen auf den Gebieten Internationale Besteuerung, Besteuerung und Investition sowie Besteuerung und Finanzierungsentscheidungen. Rainer Niemann ist Verfasser von zahlreichen Beiträgen in hochrangigen wissenschaftlichen Fachzeitschriften. In den Jahren 2004 und 2012 erhielt er den Best Paper Award des Verbands der Hochschullehrer für Betriebswirtschaft e.V. für eine internationale Zeitschriftenpublikation. 2006 wurde Niemann zum Bereichsherausgeber Accounting der Zeitschrift „Business Research“ ernannt.
