Tagung an der Uni Graz beleuchtet das Phänomen Fasten

Zwischen spiritueller Selbstfindung und kalkuliertem Kalorienverlust liegt Fasten heute voll im Trend. Zahlreiche Ratgeber propagieren die entschlackende Wirkung der kontrollierten Nahrungsreduktion, die in zahlreichen Kulturen weltweit ihren Fixplatz im Jahreszyklus hat. Doch macht regelmäßiges Fasten wirklich gesünder, jünger und selbstzufriedener? Ist die Essensverweigerung nicht vielmehr eine durch gesellschaftliche Strömungen diktierte Anomalie? Wie eng sind die seit dem Mittelalter gängige Praktiken in Zeiten des Yoga-Booms noch an christlich-religiöse Traditionen geknüpft? Und wie fühlt es sich eigentlich an, wenn der Körper seine hauseigene Müllabfuhr anwirft und Giftstoffe über Haut und Harn abtransportiert?

 


Mit diesen Themen beschäftigt sich eine Tagung der 7. fakultät der Karl-Franzens-Universität am Samstag, 8. November 2014, im Meerscheinschlössl der Uni Graz. Sechs ExpertInnen werden das Phänomen Fasten aus unterschiedlichen Blickwinkeln in leicht verdaulicher Form betrachten. Auch die Praxis kommt durch die Erfahrung eines diplomierten Ernährungstrainers nicht zu kurz. Alle Interessierten sind willkommen, Anmeldungen werden erbeten unter: wmg(at)uni-graz.at.

 


Die reguläre Teilnahmegebühr beträgt 20 Euro. Studierende, MitarbeiterInnen der Uni Graz sowie SchülerInnen und SeniorInnen zahlen 10 Euro und Schnellentschlossene können über den FrühbucherInnenbonus noch bis morgen, 31. Oktober 2014, die Tagung um 15 Euro besuchen.

The Austrian Science Fund FWF has selected the Doctoral Programme in Theoretical Particle Physics at the University of Graz for funding from the Doc.funds. Six young scientists will be funded for 3.5 years. They will gain fundamentally new insights into the origins of the world.

From trans women and knee prostheses: sports science prizes awarded

Walking better with a prosthesis, successfully getting rid of excess weight, training more effectively, more fairness for trans people in sport: these were the topics addressed by the students at the University of Graz who were awarded the sports science prizes for their Master's theses on 3 December 2025.
