WissenschafterInnen servieren Leckerbissen aus dem Mittelalter beim „Food Festival Graz“

Vom 12. bis 19. August 2017 sorgt das Food Festival Graz für Gaumenkitzel und Zungenschnalzer. Mehr als 20 Events entführen zu lukullischen Freuden. Am kulinarischen Programm-Menü köchelt auch ForscherInnen der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz mit – mit einem Backflash zu den Wurzeln unserer Essgeschichte: Bei dem höfischen Fest in der opulenten Aula der Alten Universität begeben sich der Universitätsverein „Kulinarisches Mittelalter“ (KULIMA) und das Geschmackslabor auf eine Reise zu den kulinarischen Höhenflügen der Adeligen des Mittelalters.

In einer Kooperation von KULIMA unter der Leitung von Dr. Helmut W. Klug mit Dr. Fritz Treiber aus dem Geschmackslabor der Uni Graz sowie dem Landhaus Oswald mit seinem Küchenmeister Wolfgang Edler wird ein Adels-Mahl ausgehend von originalen mittelalterlichen Rezepten neu interpretiert zubereitet und als höfisches Fest für die Gäste inszeniert.
Die WissenschafterInnen haben in den mittelalterlichen Texten so viele verschiedene Rezepte und Konservierungstechniken gefunden, dass sie eines sicher sagen können: Der mittelalterliche Speiseplan war alles andere als karg und einseitig. Er war sogar äußerst vielfältig und die Gerichte sind auch für das heutige Geschmacksempfinden grandios. Und nun hat man die einzigartige Chance das live auf einer Zeitreise ins Mittelalter nachzuprüfen!

The Austrian Science Fund FWF has selected the Doctoral Programme in Theoretical Particle Physics at the University of Graz for funding from the Doc.funds. Six young scientists will be funded for 3.5 years. They will gain fundamentally new insights into the origins of the world.

From trans women and knee prostheses: sports science prizes awarded

Walking better with a prosthesis, successfully getting rid of excess weight, training more effectively, more fairness for trans people in sport: these were the topics addressed by the students at the University of Graz who were awarded the sports science prizes for their Master's theses on 3 December 2025.
