Das Wissenstransferzentrum Süd lud ForscherInnen zum F&E Round Table mit der Evonik Industries AG

Kontakte und Kooperationen zwischen Industrie und Wissenschaft zu fördern, ist eines der wesentlichen Aufgaben des Wissenstransferzentrums (WTZ) Süd, einer gemeinsamen Einrichtung von sechs Universitäten aus der Steiermark und Kärnten, gefördert vom Bundesministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Wirtschaft sowie dem Austria Wirtschaftsservice. Am 28. März 2017 lud das WTZ Süd zum F&E Round Table mit der auf Spezialchemie und Hochleistungsmaterialien fokussierten Evonik Industries AG.
Univ.-Prof. Dr. Peter Scherrer, Vizerektor für Forschung und Wissenstransfer der Uni Graz, begrüßte VertreterInnen des Unternehmens sowie WissenschafterInnen der Karl-Franzens-Universität, TU Graz und Medizinischen Universität Graz bei der Veranstaltung im Meerscheinschlössl, die Gelegenheit zum gegenseitigen Austausch bot. Nach kurzen Präsentationen der jeweils eigenen Forschungs- und Entwicklungsaktivitäten loteten die TeilnehmerInnen in Workshops konkrete Kooperationspotenziale aus. Organisiert wurde der F&E Round Table vom Forschungsmanagement und -service der Uni Graz.

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The use of artificial intelligence has had to be made transparent since 2 August 2026. The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.

Chronic inflammation plays a key role in many diseases, ranging from metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases to tissue damage following injuries or infections. “Normally, the body is able to resolve inflammation on its own. If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
