Jubiläum am Frauentag

Zehn Jahre WOMENT in Erinnerung an Christine Touaillon (1878–1928), die sich 1919 als erste Frau an der Uni Graz habilitieren wollte

Vor genau zehn Jahren wurde WOMENT als erstes feministisches Projekt im Rahmen einer europäischen Kulturhauptstadt Europas aus der Taufe gehoben. Seither erinnern 23 Würdigungstafeln an das Werk und das Wirken von Frauen. So auch an der Uni Graz: Im Hauptgebäude wird Christine Touaillon (1878–1928) gedacht. Die Literaturwissenschafterin suchte 1919 als erste Frau an der Karl-Franzens-Universität um Habilitation an – vergeblich.

Zum Zehn-Jahr-Jubiläum kehrte am internationalen Frauentag, den 8. März 2013, eine Gruppe im Rahmen eines Frauenstadtspazierganges zu den Würdigungsstätten zurück. Den Abschluss bildete die Uni Graz, wo Ao.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Renate Dworczak, Vizerektorin für Personal, Personalentwicklung und Gleichstellung, zu einem Empfang lud. „In den vergangenen Jahren hat sich an der Karl-Franzens-Universität in punkto Gleichstellung viel getan“, verwies Dworczak auf die zahlreichen Initiativen. „Wir sind auf einem guten Weg, dürfen aber nicht nachlassen."
