15-160-200 sind die Zahlen der Montagsakademie. Zweijähriges Jubiläumsprogramm "Schöne neue Welt" offiziell eröffnet

Es war eigentlich wie immer: Volles Haus, interessiertes Publikum und viel Wissenschaft. Doch feierte die Montagsakademie an diesem Montag Geburtstag: 15 Jahre. Das erfolgreiche Bildungsformat der Universität Graz, das nun mit der 200. Ausgabe in das Jubiläumsjahr gestartet ist, zieht immer noch interessiertes Publikum in die Aula. Bei der Auftaktveranstaltung am 16. Oktober 2017 wurde nicht nur der zweijährige Programmreigen „Schöne neue Welt?!“ offiziell eröffnet, auch die 160. Onlineübertragung in 17 Regionalstellen, in 17 Partner-Regionen Österreichs startete punktgenau. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Stefan Storr, Jurist und Dekan der Rechtswissenschaftlichen Fakultät, führte in seinem Vortrag das Demokratieprinzip aus, die offizielle Eröffnungsrede hielt Forschungs-Vizerektor Peter Scherrer. Wissenschaftliche Rückendeckung für das Programm gibt es von einem eigenen Team, dessen Sprecherin für das Studienjahr 2017/18 die Slawistin Univ.-Prof. Dr. Renate Hansen-Kokoruš ist.

“HeinrichBiCool”: University of Graz demonstrates the effects of green facades and roofs

The University of Graz has launched a pioneering project at the University Centre for Theology. Its name, “HeinrichBiCool”, says it all: a comprehensive system of green facades and roof will cool the building at Heinrichstraße 80 during the summer. At the same time, this will create a new habitat for plants and animals, helping to increase biodiversity. The accompanying monitoring programme will provide detailed data on the impact of the measures on indoor climate, energy consumption and biodiversity. The findings will lay a scientifically sound foundation for further projects aimed at making cities sustainable, climate-resilient and liveable. The partners in this project, funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), are AEE INTEC – Institute for Sustainable Technologies, Technisches Büro Siegfried Stark, the landscape architecture and urban planning firm “studio boden”, and Ökoteam Graz.
