Embrace the world lautete das Motto des 16. Mulitkulti-Balls

Das war der Multikulti-Ball: Die Uni Graz tanzte am 15. Juni 2013

Alle Farben der Welt spielte der Vorplatz des Hauptgebäudes, wo am 15. Juni 2013 zum ersten Mal die Eröffnung des Multikulti-Balls über die Bühne ging.
Christa Neuper, Rektorin der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz, und Claudia Unger, Leiterin des Afro-Asiatischen Instituts, begrüßten die BesucherInnen sowie die beiden Ehrengäste: Ö3-Frühstückerin Claudia Stöckl und Pirans Bürgermeister Peter Bossman. Bossman, 1955 als Nachfahre eines niederländischen Händlers in Ghana geboren, arbeitet seit den 1980er-Jahren als Arzt in Koper (Slowenien) und lebt in Piran. Dort wurde Bossman 2010 zum ersten Bürgermeister afrikanischer Abstammung in Slowenien sowie in den mittel- und osteuropäischen Ländern gewählt.
Die Multiculti-Card 2013 erhielt an ORF-Journalistin Claudia Stöckl, deren Engagement für „ZUKI-Zukunft für Kinder“ gewürdigt wurde. Stöckl – „Frühstück bei mir“ jeden Sonntag auf Ö3 – übernahm 2008 die Leitung des Vereins, der insgesamt 800 bedürftige Kinder im Raum Kalkutta (Indien) betreut.

Nach dem farbenprächtigen und multikulturellen Start ging die abwechslungsreiche Weltreise für Ohren, Augen und Gaumen im Innenhof und Hauptgebäude weiter. Von kubanischen Salsa-Rhythmen über mitreißende Balkan-Beats und afrikanische Stimmakrobatik bis hin zur Tanzmusik des Grazer Salonorchesters reichte die künstlerische Palette.
