Ausbildungskurs zur Phyto-Aromatherapie startet

Am Mittwoch, 4. November 2015, startete eine Kooperation zwischen dem Institut für Pflanzenwissenschaften der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz und zwei praktizierenden Ärztinnen, die ihr umfassendes Fachwissen über Pflanzenheilkraft durch reinste Naturaromen in einem konzentrierten Ausbildungskurs im kommenden Jahr zur Verfügung stellen werden. Er richtet sich nicht nur an MedizinerInnen und Studierende der Medizin, sondern auch an alle, die Interesse an der Anwendung von Heilpflanzen im Sinne eines ganzheitlichen Gesundheitskonzeptes haben.


Die Gastgeberin Dr. Ursula Brosch begrüßte in einem vollen Hörsaal die Vortragenden, Dr. Bernadette Sonnleitner und Dr. Gabriela Thalhammer. Die beiden Ärztinnen boten informative und reich bebilderte Einblicke in die faszinierende Welt der Heilpflanzen und ihrer auf Körper und Geist positiv einwirkende Aromen. An erfrischende Duftproben konnten sich die begeisterten HörerInnen selbst von der Wirkung der heilenden Pflanzen überzeugen.


Eine Wohltat für die Augen bildete der Flora-Kunstblick des Leobner Fotografen Dr. Werner Steiner, Student der Kunstgeschichte an der Uni Graz. Das Institut für Kunstgeschichte führte die themenbezogene Kunstpräsentation gemeinsam mit Steiner durch. Diese bildete den Ausgangspunkt für eine Taschenlampen-Wanderung durch die nächtliche Botanik. Dort konnte man dann abschließend noch den Geschmackssinn mit einigen Schmankerln bedienen.

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The use of artificial intelligence has had to be made transparent since 2 August 2026. The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.

The Healing Sea: Researchers discover new approaches to treating chronic inflammation in sponges

Chronic inflammation plays a key role in many diseases, ranging from metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases to tissue damage following injuries or infections. “Normally, the body is able to resolve inflammation on its own. If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
