ExpertInnen diskutierten bei "Venturepreneurship Aula" über das neue Startup-Paket der österreichischen Bundesregierung

Als offene Plattform für unternehmerische Praxis und universitären Diskurs startete vor einem Jahr das Veranstaltungsformat Venturepreneurship Aula an der Uni Graz. Am 20. Jänner 2017 lud das Zentrum für Entrepreneurship und angewandte Betriebswirtschaftslehre unter der Leitung von Univ.-Prof. Dr. Alfred Gutschelhofer bereits zum dritten Mal zu dem erfolgreichen Event.

Vizerektor Peter Riedler begrüßte das zahlreich erschienene Publikum in der Aula der Karl-Franzens-Universität. Im Mittelpunkt stand als Thema diesmal das neue Startup-Paket der österreichischen Bundesregierung, das mit 1. Jänner 2017 in Kraft getreten ist – mit dem Ziel, ein Vorzeigebeispiel für eine international wettbewerbsfähige Gründungslandschaft zu werden. Als Podiumsgäste diskutierten Serial Entrepreneur und Investor Stefan Kalteis, Investor Gabriel Graber, Startup300-Gründer Michael Eisler und Stefan Kreppel von der österreichischen Forschungsförderungsgesellschaft FFG, ob die umgesetzten Maßnahmen weit genug gehen. Moderiert wurde das Gespräch von Bernhard Weber, Geschäftsführer des ZWI, Zentrum für Wissens- und Innovationstransfer GmbH.

Nach der Diskussion präsentierten sich drei studentische Unternehmen – studo, e2t und storemybag – dem großen Publikum in der Aula. Im Rahmen der Lehrveranstaltung „Venturepreneurship Forum“ waren sie von Serial Entrepreneur Stefan Kalteis und Investor Gabriel Grabner ein Semester lang gecoacht worden. Mittels eines virtuellen „Venture Euro“ konnten die Gäste abschließend abstimmen, welchem Startup sie ihr „Investment“ geben würden. Das Siegerteam „e2t“ erhielt als Preis zwei Tickets für das „fifteen seconds Festival“.

Sehr gut angekommen ist auch die erstmalig präsentierte Expo Area, wo studentische Startup-Projekte (u.a. teamazing und doro turbine) im Anschluss an die Veranstaltung mit den anwesenden InvestorInnen und UnternehmensvertreterInnen ins Gespräch kamen.

Venturepreneurship ist eine Wortkombination aus Venture Capital & Entrepreneurship. Die Veranstaltungsreihe setzt Impulse zur Finanzierung von Startups am Standort. ExpertInnen aus aus den Bereichen Venture Capital und Entrepreneurship geben bei den Events spannende Einblicke in ihre Welt.

The University of Graz is further expanding its international study opportunities through the European university alliance Arqus and is taking the lead in two key projects. In future, students will benefit from even more joint degree programmes and from simplified recognition of academic achievements through the Joint European Degree Label.

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The use of artificial intelligence has had to be made transparent since 2 August 2026. The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.

The Healing Sea: Researchers discover new approaches to treating chronic inflammation in sponges

Chronic inflammation plays a key role in many diseases, ranging from metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases to tissue damage following injuries or infections. “Normally, the body is able to resolve inflammation on its own. If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
