Studie der Uni Graz erhebt Bewusstsein über Cybersecurity

Das verstärkte Homeoffice während der Covid-19-Pandemie bietet ein breites Einfallstor für Attacken aus dem Internet. Mangelhaft geschützte Heim-Netzwerke und die Datenübertragung über ungesicherte Verbindungen bieten Cyberkriminellen zahlreiche neue Angriffsmöglichkeiten. Haris Alic hat in seiner Masterarbeit am Business Analytics and Data Science Center (BANDAS Center) der Uni Graz das Sicherheitsbewusstsein steirischer ArbeitnehmerInnen untersucht. „Grundsätzlich wissen die Befragten über Gefahren aus dem Internet gut Bescheid, aber gerade der Internetnutzung und der Netzwerksicherheit wird noch zu wenig Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt“, fasst er zusammen. Nur gut die Hälfte der rund 200 StudienteilnehmerInnen aus 13 Branchen schätzen die Risiken in diesen beiden Bereichen ausreichend hoch ein.
„Es ist wichtig, dass Unternehmen und Organisationen durch klare Richtlinien, Awareness-Schulungen, Informationen oder regelmäßige Cybersecurity-Bewusstseinstests ihre MitarbeiterInnen für das Problem sensibilisieren“, rät BANDAS-Leiter Stefan Thalmann. Wie die Studie gezeigt hat, sind sich jüngere ArbeitnehmerInnen und solche mit Lehr- oder Pflichtschulabschluss weniger der Gefahren bewusst. Gerade kleine Firmen sind aber eine beliebte Zielscheibe für Kriminelle: 85 Prozent mussten während der Pandemie Angriffe aus dem Internet abwehren, von den großen Organisationen war es „nur“ die Hälfte.
