Ein Sonntagsbrunch im Botanischen Garten rund um Hopfen und Bier

Es waren die alten Kulturpflanzen Hopfen, Malz und Weizen, die es am Sonntag, den 10. September 2017 beim Botanik Brunch im Botanischen Garten der Uni Graz ausgiebig zu erforschen, erschnuppern und zu verkosten gab. Ursula Brosch, Kathleen Grüner, Rene Michalski und Fritz Treiber hatten ein abwechslungsreiches Programm zusammengestellt, das etwa 200 BesucherInnen begeisterte.
Gestärkt mit einem schmackhaften Frühstück – serviert von Feinkost Holzer-Koroschetz – wurde bei einer Führung der spätsommerliche Bauerngarten erkundet. Gunter Almer und René Rehorska vom Braucampus lieferten bei zwei Vorträgen interessante und g’schmackige Blicke in den Braukessel sowie ins Bierglas. Zudem gab es im Anschluss eine kleine Bierverkostung unter fachkundiger Beratung. Und eigens gemixte Hopfenlimonaden erfrischten alkoholfrei Jung und Alt.

Der Botanik Brunch, eine Veranstaltung der 7. fakultät, des Zentrums für Gesellschaft, Wissen und Kommunikation der Uni Graz, wurde von Bank Austria unterstützt.

“HeinrichBiCool”: University of Graz demonstrates the effects of green facades and roofs

The University of Graz has launched a pioneering project at the University Centre for Theology. Its name, “HeinrichBiCool”, says it all: a comprehensive system of green facades and roof will cool the building at Heinrichstraße 80 during the summer. At the same time, this will create a new habitat for plants and animals, helping to increase biodiversity. The accompanying monitoring programme will provide detailed data on the impact of the measures on indoor climate, energy consumption and biodiversity. The findings will lay a scientifically sound foundation for further projects aimed at making cities sustainable, climate-resilient and liveable. The partners in this project, funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), are AEE INTEC – Institute for Sustainable Technologies, Technisches Büro Siegfried Stark, the landscape architecture and urban planning firm “studio boden”, and Ökoteam Graz.
