Neue Entwicklungen am Strommarkt, Förderungen und Tarife sind Themen einer Tagung an der Uni Graz

In der Aula fand heute der 7. Grazer Energierechtstag statt, der von Karl Stöger, REWI-Dekan Stefan Storr und Vertretern der Energie Steiermark ins Leben gerufene Austausch zwischen Wissenschaft und Praxis. 140 TeilnehmerInnen lauschten den Einschätzungen der Experten und diskutierten mit ihnen über die Konsequenzen rechtlicher Neuerungen im Energiesektor. „Es gibt diverse Pläne des Wirtschaftsministeriums, den Rechtsrahmen rund um Erzeugung, Verteilung und Verbrauch von Energie umzugestalten. Eine nicht zu unterschätzende Rolle kommt dabei der Haltung Deutschlands zu, das sich derzeit mit Österreich in einer gemeinsamen Strompreiszone befindet“, erklärt Stöger. Aus diesem Grund referierte auch Peter Franke, Vizepräsident der deutschen Bundesnetzagentur, über die Sicht seiner Behörde auf die Weiterentwicklung des deutschen Strommarkts. Benedikt Ennser als Vertreter des österreichischen Wirtschaftsministeriums stellte dar, wie weit die Vorbereitungen für eine Neuordnung der Ökostromförderung gediehen sind. Norbert Fürst von der österreichischen Regulierungsbehörde E-Control skizzierte die Pläne für eine neue Tarifberechnungsart für die Nutzung des Stromnetzes durch Erzeuger und Lieferanten.
Das vieldiskutierte Urteil des Bundesverwaltungsgerichts zur dritten Piste am Flughafen Schwechat griff Bernhard Raschauer von der Uni Wien auf. Stefan Storr beleuchtete Anreize zur Förderung von Energieeffizienz aus einer neuen, rechtlich-psychologischen Perspektive.
Die Vorträge des Energierechtstags werden in der Zeitschrift Recht und Umwelt publiziert.

In future, students will benefit from even more joint degree programmes and from simplified recognition of academic achievements through the Joint European Degree Label.

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The use of artificial intelligence has had to be made transparent since 2 August 2026. The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.

The Healing Sea: Researchers discover new approaches to treating chronic inflammation in sponges

Chronic inflammation plays a key role in many diseases, ranging from metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases to tissue damage following injuries or infections. “Normally, the body is able to resolve inflammation on its own. If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
