Foto-Ausstellung in der Universitätsbibliothek: Uni Graz und Ortweinschule gestalten Kalender

Sie löst Rätsel der Natur. Sie verbessert unser Leben. Und dennoch: Wissenschaftliche Arbeit lässt sich oft schwer abbilden. Die Universität Graz setzt nun mit einem druckfrischen Kalender 2022 Forschung ins Bild.

SchülerInnen des Ausbildungsbereichs Fotografie und Multimedia Art sowie Studierende des Abendkollegs für Fine Art Photography & Multimedia Art an der Grazer Ortweinschule für Kunst & Design haben sich mit Schwerpunkten der Uni Graz kreativ auseinandergesetzt und diese fotografisch umgesetzt. Jedes Monatsblatt erzählt eine spannende Forschungsgeschichte – eben eine Science Story, so der Titel des Kalenders.

Eine Ausstellung im Foyer der Universitätsbibliothek Graz vom 4. bis 15. November 2021 zeigt sowohl die Kalenderblätter als auch weitere fotografische Interpretationen wissenschaftlicher Projekte.

„Ein spannender Beitrag, unsere Forschung in die Öffentlichkeit zu tragen“, betonte Rektor Martin Polaschek. Florian Koller, Werkstättenleiter für Fotografie an der Grazer Ortweinschule für Kunst & Design, resümierte: „Es ist gelungen, komplexe Themen in eine Bilderwelt zu überführen.“

Der Forschungskalender 2022 ist im Unistore im 1. Stock des Hauptgebäudes gegen eine freiwillige Spende, die das Fundraising-Projekt „Bienengesundheit“ an der Universität Graz unterstützt, erhältlich.

The paper was published today in the scientific journal Nature Communications.

Chemical Christmas show at the University of Graz: An explosive evening at the Schauspielh

At the beginning of December, the University of Graz transformed the theater into a laboratory: as part of “Chemical Life,” teacher training students staged a chemical Christmas show for Styrian school classes—complete with ethanol rockets, nitrogen snow, and glowing effects. An evening designed to inspire interest in studying chemistry.

Train by train: Koralm railway accelerates exchange between the Universities

Lectures at the University of Klagenfurt in the morning, seminars at the University of Graz in the afternoon: Austria's longest tunnel and a journey time of around 45 minutes make it easy. The Koralm railway increases the speed of networking between the two university locations. The collaboration builds on existing cooperation - for example in the areas of teacher training, Slavic studies and as employers, the universities are well coordinated.
