Eine neue "HörSaal"-Folge beschäftigt sich mit der Erinnerungskultur der Uni Graz an die NS-Zeit

Verdrängen, kleinreden, ignorieren: Lange hat die Universität Graz ihre eigene Rolle während der Jahre des Nationalsozialismus nicht oder nur ungenügend aufgearbeitet. Marco Jandl (Centrum für Jüdische Studien) hat in seiner prämierten Masterarbeit die universitäre Erinnerungskultur untersucht. In einer neuen Folge des Wissenschaftspodcasts „HörSaal“ erzählt er, warum die Universität Graz lange – wie so viele in Österreich – in der Erzählung des Opfermythos schwelgte und warum der Großteil der Belegschaft nach Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs die mentale Flucht zurück in die Zeit der Monarchie antrat. Er beschreibt, wann ein Umdenken begonnen hat einzusetzen und wie die Universität Graz heute mit diesem Teil ihrer Geschichte umgeht.

Seit 2020 vergibt die Geisteswissenschaftliche Fakultät der Uni Graz die GEWI-Preise für hervorragende Dissertationen sowie Master- und Diplomarbeiten.
