Die Podcast-Plattform der Grazer Universtitäten, der AirCampus, präsentiert jeden Montag Wissens-Podcasts, heute zu diesen Themen:

1) Es darf Meer sein! Sommer, Sonne, Strand - das klingt nach Traumurlaub. Der Leidtragende dabei: das Meer. Sein Zustand verschlechtert sich alarmierend schnell. Was wir alle an unserem Verhalten ändern müssen, um das Meer zu retten, weiß die Ökologin Sandra Bracun.

2) Wasserstoff für die Schifffahrt: Hochseeschiffe werden derzeit mit dem sehr umweltschädlichen Schweröl betrieben. In Zukunft könnten sie mit Wasserstoff bzw. Methanol fahren - und so kein CO2 mehr ausstoßen. An der TU Graz wird der Prototyp so eines Schiffsmotors entwickelt.

3) Früherkennung: Präeklampsie ist eine der häufigsten Schwangerschaftskomplikationen. Ein Forschungsteam der Med Uni Graz hat gezeigt, dass eine individuell angepasste Aspirin-Dosis das Risiko dafür zwar senken kann, aber nicht immer ausreichend wirkt.

4) Piano, Piano! Vom 10. bis 12. Juni finden die ersten „Tage der neuen Klaviermusik“ in Graz statt. Clemens Nachtmann ist Komponist, Jurymitglied und Professor an der KUG. Er erzählt mehr über diesen Kompositions- und Interpretationswettbewerb.

Das Podcast-Projekt der vier Grazer Universitäten versorgt MitarbeiterInnen, Studierende sowie alle Interessierten das ganze Studienjahr über mit wissenswerten Infos aus der Welt der Forschung, aus dem Bildungsbereich und dem Campusleben der Universität Graz, Technischen Universität, Medizinischen Universität und Kunstuniversität.

Die Initiative erhielt 2012 den Inge-Morath-Preis des Landes Steiermark, 2017 den PR-Panther in der Kategorie "Wissenschaft" und 2018 den Green Panther in der Kategorie Online Kommunikation.

The paper was published today in the scientific journal Nature Communications.

Chemical Christmas show at the University of Graz: An explosive evening at the Schauspielh

At the beginning of December, the University of Graz transformed the theater into a laboratory: as part of “Chemical Life,” teacher training students staged a chemical Christmas show for Styrian school classes—complete with ethanol rockets, nitrogen snow, and glowing effects. An evening designed to inspire interest in studying chemistry.

Train by train: Koralm railway accelerates exchange between the Universities

Lectures at the University of Klagenfurt in the morning, seminars at the University of Graz in the afternoon: Austria's longest tunnel and a journey time of around 45 minutes make it easy. The Koralm railway increases the speed of networking between the two university locations. The collaboration builds on existing cooperation - for example in the areas of teacher training, Slavic studies and as employers, the universities are well coordinated.
