Die Welt erlebt derzeit in Syrien nicht nur eine menschliche Tragödie, sondern auch eine einzigartige Serie von Zerstörungen von Denkmälern durch den Islamischen Staat. Was an der Oberfläche als kompromisslose Verwirklichung des Verbotes von Abbildungen und Götzendienst im Koran aussieht, entpuppt sich bei näherem Hinsehen als perfektes Mittel zu verstärkter Medienpräsenz und gesteigertem Prestige.
