Das Webradio startet mit vier Beiträgen. Warum bestimmte Buntbarsch-Weibchen ihr Aussehen den Männchen angeglichen haben, wird unter anderem erklärt

Das Webradio der Grazer Universitäten versorgt Studierende, MitarbeiterInnen, Lehrende, Forschende, Alumni sowie alle Interessierten wöchentlich mit vier Informationsbeiträgen. Ab dieser Woche geht startet das Programm wieder - mit folgenden Beiträgen:

1) Forschung: "Durch gleiche Optik Paroli bieten." Bei den Tropheus moorii, einer afrikanischen Buntbarschart, haben sich die Weibchen den Männchen im Lauf der Zeit optisch angepasst. Evolutionsbiologin Kristina Sefc vermutet, dass die Weibchen auf diese Weise ihr Terroritum besser verteidigen konnten und erklärt im Webradio-Interview die Hintergründe dazu.

2) Bildung: "Kultur, Medizin und Wissenschaft." Einmal im Monat bringt das Team des International Office internationale Gäste und Studierende an der Med Uni an einen Tisch, um über die Erfahrungen in Graz zu sprechen und von den jeweiligen Herkunftsländern zu berichten. So entsteht ein interkultureller Erfahrungsaustausch rund um Medizin und Wissenschaft.

3) Campusleben: "Kork: Das neue Lokal für alle Fälle." Möbel aus einem alten Hotel am Ossiacher See, selbstgezimmerte Bars aus rund einer Tonne Holz, viel Grünzeug, täglich neue Mittagsmenüs und eine Vitrine voller süßer Köstlichkeiten – das ist das neue KORK am Campus Alte Technik.

4) Aktuell gefragt: "Begegnungen" - ein neues Format an der KUG". Die Kunstuni Graz startet mit einem neuen Veranstaltungsformat, das den Austausch zwischen Personen und Konzepten zum Ziel hat. Hermann Götz, Leiter der Abteilung für Öffentlichkeitsarbeit, gibt einen Vorgeschmack auf die ersten beiden Events am 14. April bzw. am 19. Mai.

Auch die erfolgreichen Kooperation mit Radio Soundportal - täglich sind dort die Webradio-Beiträge zu hören - besteht im neuen Semester weiterhin.

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The use of artificial intelligence has had to be made transparent since 2 August 2026. The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.

Chronic inflammation plays a key role in many diseases, ranging from metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases to tissue damage following injuries or infections. “Normally, the body is able to resolve inflammation on its own. If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
