Uni Graz hebt Qualität in der Elementarpädagogik

In der besonders sensiblen Bildung und Betreuung von Kleinkindern hinkt Österreich dem internationalen Standard hinterher. Die hierzulande angebotene Ausbildung auf Maturaniveau kann PädagogInnen nur bedingt auf die steigenden Anforderungen in ihrem Berufsfeld vorbereiten. Wissenschaftliche Studien belegen, dass höher qualifizierte Fachpersonen besser auf die Bedürfnisse der Kinder eingehen und anregendere Impulse für spielerisches Lernen setzen können. Um die Qualität in Kinderkrippen und Kindergärten zu heben, hat die Universität Graz das Zentrum für Professionalisierung der Elementarpädagogik (PEP) gegründet, das am 27. Juli 2020 um 14 Uhr virtuell eröffnet wird.

„Wir haben aus zahlreichen Forschungsprojekten umfangreiches Know-how darüber, wie man die Qualität der Kinderbildung und -betreuung misst und den Ablauf in den Einrichtungen optimal gestaltet“, fasst Zentrumsleiterin Catherine Walter-Laager zusammen. „Dieses Wissen wollen wir an möglichst viele Fachleute aus der Praxis weitergeben.“ Das PEP bietet maßgeschneiderte Angebote für Trägerschaften von Bildungs- und Betreuungseinrichtungen im Bereich der Weiterbildung sowie der Qualitätssicherung an und setzt dabei unter anderem auf digitale Maßnahmen, um PädagogInnen aus ganz Österreich unkompliziert den Zugang zu ermöglichen. Gleichzeitig führt das Team die wissenschaftliche Arbeit fort, um neueste Erkenntnisse unmittelbar weiterzuvermitteln.

Die Universität Graz hat als erste in Österreich im Jahr 2010 eine Professur für Elementarpädagogik eingerichtet.

The Koralm railway increases the speed of networking between the two university locations.
