Tagung an der Uni Graz beleuchtete Bedeutung von qualitätsvollem Sprachunterricht

„Mit Sprache Grenzen überwinden“ lautete der Titel der 20. Grazer Tagung Deutsch als Fremd-/Zweitsprache & Sprachdidaktik, die das Fachdidaktikzentrum der Geisteswissenschaftlichen Fakultät kürzlich veranstaltete. Mehr als hundert TeilnehmerInnen aus Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz erhielten Einblick in die aktuellsten Forschungen über das Sprachenlernen und -lehren im Kontext von Flucht und Migration. Als besonders bedeutsame Themen wurden etwa neu zugewanderte Kinder und Jugendliche als QuereinsteigerInnen in der Schule, Übergangsklassen sowie die Professionalisierung von Lehrkräften und Ehrenamtlichen behandelt.

Beziehungsarbeit
Den Eröffnungsvortrag hielt Verena Plutzar von der Universität Wien zum Thema Sprachenlernen nach der Flucht. Dabei ging sie auf die psychologischen Prozesse ein, die durch Fluchterfahrungen in Gang gesetzt werden können, und diskutierte ihre Implikationen für den Unterricht. Spracherwerb setze einen gelungenen Beziehungsaufbau zu den SprecherInnen des Deutschen voraus.
Mehrsprachigkeitsforscherin Katharina Brizić von der Universität Freiburg referierte zum Thema Sprachenbiographische Kompetenz für Lehrende. Sie verwies darauf, dass sich SchülerInnen mit Erfahrungen von Ungleichheit, Flucht und Gewalt in der Klasse in ganz spezifischer Weise hörbar machen. Die größte Herausforderung für Lehrkräfte bestünde darin, diese Stimmen wahrzunehmen und aufzufangen.

“HeinrichBiCool”: University of Graz demonstrates the effects of green facades and roofs

The University of Graz has launched a pioneering project at the University Centre for Theology. Its name, “HeinrichBiCool”, says it all: a comprehensive system of green facades and roof will cool the building at Heinrichstraße 80 during the summer. At the same time, this will create a new habitat for plants and animals, helping to increase biodiversity. The accompanying monitoring programme will provide detailed data on the impact of the measures on indoor climate, energy consumption and biodiversity. The findings will lay a scientifically sound foundation for further projects aimed at making cities sustainable, climate-resilient and liveable. The partners in this project, funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), are AEE INTEC – Institute for Sustainable Technologies, Technisches Büro Siegfried Stark, the landscape architecture and urban planning firm “studio boden”, and Ökoteam Graz.
