Das Barefoot World Cup 2013-Turnier findet am 24. Mai ab 12 Uhr auf der Wiese bei der Wetterstation vorm Hauptgebäude der Uni Graz statt.

Internationales Fußballturnier am Campus der Uni Graz

Einen Tag vor dem Champions League Finale am 25. Mai 2013 im Wembley-Stadium in London herrscht auch in Graz das Fußballfieber: Beim mittlerweile 4. Barefoot World Cup vor dem Hauptgebäude der Uni Graz zaubern internationale Teams um die Ehre.

Studierende, Lehrende und WissenschafterInnen der Karl-Franzens-Universität treten dabei in Mannschaften von mindestens vier SpielerInnen gegeneinander an - und zwar ohne Schuhe! Es wird auf kleine Tore gespielt, SchiedsrichterInnen werden dabei nicht benötigt. Kommentiert wird das Turnier von Ass.-Prof. Dr. Armin Stolz vom Institut für Österreichisches, Europäisches und Vergleichendes Öffentliches Recht, Politikwissenschaft und Verwaltungslehre der Uni Graz.

Das Nenngeld beträgt 10 Euro pro Team, internationale Teams werden dabei bevorzugt. Bisher waren SpielerInnen aus Brasilien, Australien, USA, Spanien, Italien, Deutschland, Schweden, Slowenien und Kroatien am Start.

Gegründet wurde der Barefoot World Cup vor drei Jahren von Christoph Hofstätter und Thomas Leitner. Heuer sind neben den beiden Gründern auch Matthias Petritsch, Thomas Salentinig und Matthias Pendl mit im Organisationsteam dabei.
