Josef Hader war Gast in der Ringvorlesung des Zentrums für Südosteuropastudien

Gespannt wartete das Publikum, ob er es denn schaffen würde. Dann Aufatmen: Josef Hader kam nach erfolgreicher Parkplatzsuche die Stufen im Hörsaal am Universitätsplatz 1 herunter. Dr. Armina Galijaš und Dr. Hrvoje Paić hatten den prominenten österreichischen Kabarettisten und Schauspieler zur Schlussveranstaltung der Ringvorlesung des Zentrums für Südosteuropastudien am 21. Juni 2017 eingeladen, um mit ihm über seine Berührungspunkte mit dem Balkan, über Politik, Stereotype und das Lachen über sich selbst und andere zu sprechen. Die Vortragsreihe widmete sich im Sommersemester verschiedenen Aspekten zum Thema „Theater und Gesellschaft in Südosteuropa“.

„Mein erster Kontakt mit dem Balkan war, als ich Karl May gelesen habe – eine wilde Gegend, mit Blutrache – das war das erste Stereotyp, das hab ich schon als Kind nicht ernst genommen“, gewohnt launig und gleichzeitig mit großer Ernsthaftigkeit – so wie ihn seine Fans kennen und lieben – stand Josef Hader seinen GesprächspartnerInnen vom Zentrum für Südosteuropastudien Rede und Antwort.

Im Anschluss nahm sich der Künstler viel Zeit, Fragen aus dem Publikum zu beantworten, und machte so seine Verspätung wieder wett. Natürlich kam da auch, ob denn wieder ein neues Programm von Josef Hader geplant sei. Die Chancen stehen gut: „Ja, ja, ich möcht schon eins schreiben. Wenn mir was einfällt, müsst es in den nächsten zwei Jahren eines geben … Ich bin sozusagen ein lebendiger toter Kabarettist ... Wenn ich eine Grundidee habe, die mich nicht mehr loslässt, dann fange ich an zu schreiben … Ich beginne im August.“

In future, students will benefit from even more joint degree programmes and from simplified recognition of academic achievements through the Joint European Degree Label.

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The use of artificial intelligence has had to be made transparent since 2 August 2026. The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.

The Healing Sea: Researchers discover new approaches to treating chronic inflammation in sponges

Chronic inflammation plays a key role in many diseases, ranging from metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases to tissue damage following injuries or infections. “Normally, the body is able to resolve inflammation on its own. If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
