Der Chemiker Wolfgang Kroutil erhielt den „Biocat Preis 2012“

Beim internationalen Kongress über Biokatalyse – Biocat 2012 – von 2. bis 6. September in Hamburg wurde Ao.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Kroutil vom Institut für Chemie der Uni Graz der „Biocat Preis 2012“ für Forschung verliehen.

 

Dieser Preis gilt als die höchste Auszeichnung im Bereich der Biokatalyse und wird nur alle zwei Jahre in drei Kategorien vergeben: für Leistungen in der Industrie, für das Lebenswerk und für die Forschung. Die beiden anderen Preise gingen an Jeffrey Moore, Merck (USA) und Pierre Monsan (Frankreich).

 

Wolfgang Kroutil erhielt die Auszeichnung in Anerkennung seiner Erfolge bei der Anwendung von Biokatalysatoren in der organischen Chemie zur Herstellung von Medikamenten, neuartigen Polymeren und Aromastoffen.

If ants ingest the substance in combination with the pesticide glyphosate, it disturbs the development of their offspring. Scientists at the University of Graz are drawing attention to the negative consequences of this toxic cocktail.
